About The Course

Advanced MBCT Module Training for Certified MBSR Teachers

The first-generation mindfulness-based programs, MBSR and MBCT, are evidence-based mindfulness interventions. The MBCT Teacher Training Program is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and experience required to teach the MBCT program.

About the International Recognition of the Program

The MBCT Teacher Training Program organized by Mindfulness Institute is designed in accordance with the internationally recognized teacher training standards published in 2017 by the International Mindfulness Interventions Network, a global network of mindfulness teacher trainers.

The Mindfulness Institute Teacher Training Program is offered under the umbrella of MINDED (Mindfulness Teachers Association of Türkiye), which is a member of EAMBA (The European Network of Associations of Mindfulness-Based Approaches).

The teacher training provided by Mindfulness Institute meets Level 2 teacher competency according to the MBI-TAC (Mindfulness-Based Interventions: Teaching Assessment Criteria), which is used as an assessment framework for MBSR/MBCT teacher training at the Universities of Oxford and Bangor in the United Kingdom.

General Information About the Program

The prerequisite for this program is the completion of an 8-Week MBSR or MBCT Program, in addition to having completed or currently being enrolled in an MBSR Teacher Training Program.

The MBCT Teacher Training Module is intended for mental health professionals (psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, psychological counselors, and psychiatric nurses).

The language of the program is primarily English. Sessions taught by international trainers will be simultaneously interpreted by a professional interpreter.

The program is planned to be delivered online.

The number of participants is limited.

A minimum of four supervision sessions is required as part of the MBCT Teacher Certification process. Supervision is not included in the program fee.

The MBCT Teacher Training Program aims to provide participants with teacher-level knowledge, skills, and experience in the following core areas:

The theoretical and experiential foundations of the MBCT Program.

Current and foundational scientific research in the field of MBCT.

The theoretical and experiential framework necessary for understanding depression, recurrent depression, and rumination from a mindfulness-based perspective.

The assessment interview process, participant evaluation, and suitability criteria for the MBCT Program.

The content, structure, and delivery of the eight sessions of the MBCT Program.

The content, purpose, and delivery of the meditations and practices included in the MBCT Program.

Planning and facilitating sessions from the perspective of an MBCT teacher.

Managing group processes and the core principles to consider when working with participants.

Home practice assignments and their role within the MBCT Program.

Ethical principles and standards of practice in MBCT teaching.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the program, teacher trainees will receive an internationally recognized certificate (see the section About the International Recognition of the Program) and will be recognized as teachers who provide training in accordance with ethical standards.

To complete the certification process, participants are required to:

Conduct an 8-week MBCT course under supervision and receive a minimum of four supervision sessions. (Supervision is conducted individually and is not included in the course fee. Information about the supervisor's individual supervision fee can be obtained during the supervision period.)

In addition to supervision sessions, submit weekly supervision reports and a final report.

The MBCT Teacher Training Module is intended for mental health professionals (psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, psychological counselors, and psychiatric nurses). Participants from other professional backgrounds are welcome to attend the module; however, they will not be authorized to deliver MBCT programs.
